Our Goal at Free Nerds is to help your organization get online by assisting with websites for Churches, Charities and Nonprofit Organizations

When you are part of a nonprofit organization, you usually have far too much on your plate, countless things to do, and people to help, all while running on a shoestring budget.  The need to get the word out about your organization is so important to you, yet the time and money never really seem to be available at the same time.  That’s where Free Nerds comes in.  We are a collective group of both professional web designers and hobbyists who enjoy nothing more than helping your church, charity or nonprofit organization get a nice website up and running for a very low cost. Our sites are easy to manage and maintain, making sure you can focus on the important work you do so well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who do you help?

We are a small group of volunteers primarily working out of the Gillette, WY area. If you are a Church, Charity or Nonprofit organization we are here to help you. Contact us today and we can get your website up and running as soon as possible.

How does this work?

We start by getting to know your organization, learning about what you are hoping to accomplish with your website.  During the process, there will be back and forth discussions to make sure your site is setup how you like.  When the site is complete we will hand the site over to you, ready to go.  This includes all account passwords as well as transferring all domain registration and hosting accounts over to you.  We will provide you with training information to help you maintain the site on your own.

How much does it cost?

“But wait a minute, I thought you guys were free?” Here at Free Nerds we truly want to help you setup a website for the lowest cost possible. We ask that you pay any out of pocket expenses that are incurred during the setup of your site, this could include things like domain registration and web hosting fees. Labor cost will be invoiced separately upon completion of the site.  We understand that in many cases any form of payment is not possible, so please don’t let that stop you from getting your cause online for the world to see.  There are resources such as grants, discounts from hosting sites and other resources out there to help support the expense of a website.  In the instance in which your 501(3)(c) qualified organization is unable to pay we do request a contemporaneous written acknowledgment from your organization indicating the amount of Free Bird’s charitable contribution toward the development of the site based on the fair market value.

What do you use for your sites?

We primarily use Word Press, which is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP. In non-geek speak, Word Press is probably the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system in existence today.  Since it is so widely used, it makes it easy to hand over the website to your Church, Charity or Nonprofit organization once we have helped you get it going.  The management afterward is simple, as there is a wealth of information online due to the popularity of Word Press.
